I’ve been thinking about starting a birthday tradition with my newborn son, where each year I gift him an important book about people and thinking. To build a collection he can read when he’s older. Stuff about ingenuity, resilience, and caring. Recommendations are welcome!

The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa has had a profound effect on me. Dune is also fantastic for a teenager at a high reading level.
