I think criteria are not fair for profiles that are building up. Maybe there should also be a Rising badge or something similar

Hmm I always saw Farcaster as place where you contribute to the conversation, idea, protocol and that all those contributions make you an active caster. Trying to get more and more followers to get an activity badge puts a lot of pressure on folks who show up online/onchain differently which can lead to burn out.

with all due respect, i consider i'm quite active and would actually prefer to have a lower followers count (too many spammers and i am not comfortable with a large "audience"). to me the active badge is a trust signal for users who continuously engage even if only within a small community of their preference

Why not just call it the “popularity badge” at this point. There’s little that’s “active” about it.
