Love open source. I’m not saying web3 social = web2 social. I 110% prefer web3’s user-centric open-source approach to web2’s platform-centric model. My comment was that decentralized social protocols feel tribal & siloed. Will they stay silos or will one win out (like VHS beat Beta) & become THE social protocol?
thats a really interesting obervation. But I guess competitions exist accross the stack, even at protocol layer. So farcaster might defeat lens or some other ones might win..just like eth vs cosmos and other layer 1s
til that vhs beat beta because of .. better selection of porns.. so that application ecos definitely matters in the race
these protocols have taken a VC-ish approach to building, which inherently becomes a winner takes all fight. I think nostr has done best as a true protocol layer and best positioned imo.
