2 - sometimes my library only has audiobooks available. Great for a quick read through without expecting a high level of retention
2. Mostly in the car, but I’ve kinda stopped listening in favour of words on paper.
2. we only use them on long car rides with the kids. otherwise I don't use them at all, prefer short form audio content and would rather read a book than listen.
4. wouldn't say i "tried" tried, but i gave it a shot. don't think it's for me. so yeah not a part of the sith as @chukwukaosakwe mentioned
4. I got obsessed with audiobooks when I was younger and my life was all about efficiency (i.e. do other things) Now I'm older and having 'me time' is more of a priority, I prefer to read physical copies
4 I prioritize listening to music first and foremost; it helps me focus. Audiobooks require me to stop being physically active or else I block out the book entirely.
1 used to be a voracious reader but that changed when the kiddo came along so it's been mostly audio for past decade+
1. I have an aural learning style and do a lot of repetitive driving for work. So audiobooks are perfect. Non-fiction via audio (90%> of my reading). Some fiction via paper back in bed.
5 I can’t stay awake when I’m listening to them and I’m running out of cars
For those who answered 1 and are willing to share, I’d be curious who has some sort of neurodivergent trait. For me it’s ADHD. Anecdotally, I’ve found my friends with ADHD tend to listen to audiobooks more than my friends without it.
1 currently since workload has increased Been listening to audiobooks whenever I’m driving or doing errands which has let me keep a solid reading pace
1 Can’t do one thing at once (is it called adhd?), so listen to them while walking/ cooking/ cleaning etc
2. It’s hard to have time with a toddler, but I should get back into it!
2. I am used to listening to podcasts at 1.5 times the speed while walking.
1 as I've gotten older my ability to focus and sit to read has gone out the window, audio books good filled audio when working or gaming
Audiobooks come after podcasts, meaning that after I listened through the episodes in my Up Next, I'll go with a chapter during a walk, either after lunch or in the late afternoon. I also like to listen when driving, but I can't retain that much..
4. If I’m doing background audio, it’s usually podcasts. I stick to regular reading, even e-readers don’t capture the same experience for me. (Which is atypical for me! I’m usually pretty tech friendly.)
Audiobooks made my commute bearable. Sometimes I miss having that couple of hours to listen.
2 Good for doing chores at the same time but I’m not an aural learner so it’s easy to miss things.
