Have you seen apps use NFT minting or ownership to purchase and access software? What’s the most common way in web3, both for monetizing one time purchases as well as SaaS subscriptions?

For spaces I've seen it like Empire DAO in NYC. I can imagine gaming be something that can be monetized through NFTs, like Greed Island in Hunter X Hunter. Marketplace makes money from transaction or auction with limited copies of a game.

I've implemented access passes for mintit.studio (platform to mint nft's on kadena) a while ago. It was a simple check of ownership in the smart contract. I'm bullish on NFT access passes in general.

Floor app is probably the best case study I’ve seen so far.

+1 for @floor like @ra mentions. Great use of NFT gated early access to iOS/android app. WGMI.io is another, offers their web-based saas through gated NFT. DCs/DMs open for any ?s.

I think StonerCatsTV qualifies with its content behind a wallet verified ‘paywall’ that confirms you have the asset

Big part of web3 gaming works that way. If you want to play, you have to own an NFT. So instead of buying access to the game via Steam, you buy it via NFT.

We’re doing it at bildr.com… still experimenting with the details… right now the NFT gets you lifetime pro account + unlocked features, but we’ve got a bigger saas-focused plan on the tokenomics page.

Premint is probably the top grossing product access pass. Daylight might be the most owned (11k+) now. DC for spreadsheet. https://twitter.com/jaymehoffman/status/1560680661891031041?s=20&t=VmQ2_imojNImg1wZ_HaiVw

Haven’t seen much of it but the cleanest I can imagine is a license as an NFT. Holder has license to use for as long as they hold. They can cancel/sell if they no longer want and recoup some of their value. Similar to the days when software CDs and CD keys were sold in tandem.
