What does small town America need?
Better web connectivity and health care. As a city boy who made the mistake of also leading a country life 1/2 the year, i feel these 2 needs can be addressed relatively easily, but are choosen not to creating a division around access.
School budgets Healthcare facilities/budgets/trained workers Rental housing stock Employment opportunities Better food access Mobile community resources
Role models in tech Training pipelines into growing rather than dying industries Cultural icons that extol the value of what we now know about taking care of yourself
Less people telling them to go to college. Small town America is built on entrepreneurial spirit and self sufficiency. Essentially they need to double down on the “country boy can survive” mentality, which is both liberating and future proof
To be self-sufficient, hyper-local, community-oriented, regenerative and slow. The land has everything we need.
