Has anyone used Arc / The Browser Co's browser? If yes, worth?

Switched to Arc a couple weeks ago from Chrome It’s very good — better workflow I’ll keep using it

I’ve mainly been using it for discord. Here are some other casters trying it https://searchcaster.xyz/search?text=Arc+browser

My primary use case for it is guiding the browser UI when reading or taking screenshots. Not super interesting but also switching is super low since it’s pretty close to chromium

i fully switched and would have a hard time going back. i use folders, spaces, and keyboard shortcuts a lot. i really like it overall my least favorite part is how extensions work but u can access them from keyboard shortcut so that’s nice

Tried it and wanted to like it. Absolutely destroyed my battery life and performance (15” MBP), hopefully they fix.

Made the switch from chrome. Good UX and its auto archive feature unclutters my tabs. But may run into performance issues if you have multiple windows open with something like browser-based vscode

i tried it out. i like the "fluidity" of it. but my existing workflow doesn't fit it into. (i guess i could with work) so now im back in firefox

It’s been my default browser for going on a year now and it would be really, really tough to move back to Chrome or Safari at this point. It may not be for everyone but it’s really awesome for me.

Yea - and no, not worth it to me. Safari/Chrome work just fine. Perhaps Arc is great for folks that keep dozens of tabs open tho 🤷‍♂️

Yes but I couldn’t get into it. I really rely on shortcuts on my browser and the arc ones were hard to get adjusted to

i used it for ~3-4 months and ended up switching back to chrome. its definitely nice but I had some major issues w/ it. notably, the left sidebar started to annoy me, just something about it puts me off and everything starts to feel misaligned. along with that, just like *too much* going on. too shiny, too fancy.

Been using for ~3 months. Starts off great, really beautiful UI and such an improvement from chrome. Then the shortcuts start compounding and it turns into a Superhuman like experience for browser. Can only see if getting better and better.

Just recently switched back after trying Arc for a month. I like what they are trying to do but extensions feel like second class citizens and doing dev work in Arc is not nearly as smooth as Chrome.

Haven’t figured out a workflow that makes it worth it yet. I typically declare tab bankruptcy every day though and create my own knowledge graph/index of the web on other platforms.

curious - what is the end game for a venture backed browser co.? what success stories (liquidity event) actually exist?

Yes. I like it quite a lot, but for two things. 1. It destroys battery life and is a big resource hog. It'll lag xcode simulator, vs code and discord if you have all running with arc 2. The adblock extensions don't work as well as on brave. Otherwise it is great and I'm happy to use it over brave and chrome.

as far as i can tell, almost all the features in Arc are things that already exist in MacOS via tools like Alfred and BetterTouchTool

Yup have been using since about 2-3 months. Love the spaces which lets me organise my work and personal tabs. The overall organization of tabs into folders, pinning some important ones and hiding the tabs bar are few of my fav features. Helps me manage the clutter of tabs. Overall loving it.

The only thing for some reason that does not work for me is keeping my various gmail tabs open. I have few email accounts and I tried to keep them saved in different tabs but when I go back to them they switch to another account. Still trying to figure that bit out.
