I have kobayashi-maru-ed away my ability to enjoy tv mysteries entirely because I now recognize too many out-of-narrative tells 😢

I have a similar problem with most serial TV shows. You can tell they have an A writing team that does Episodes 1-3 and the last two episodes, and a B team who cobbles together random crap for everything in the middle. The A/B shift is now as glaring for me as a Starbucks cup in a medieval dining hall

Same. It is possible to be a combination of genre savvy and production savvy to the point where you can almost directly perceive the tropes and other cues. Best example of this is movie version of Tinker Tailor. So many converging giveaways of the “surprise” ending, from tropes to casting decisions
