What country has the best street food? Defined as a stand/small shop where you can walk out with fresh food in < 2 mins My first thought: Israel
Was thinking Israel before I even finished reading your cast haha Mexico is definitely up there too Still need to visit India, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, all of which I’m looking forward to the street food!
I haven’t been to Israel yet (on the list) but definitely Mexico, India, and Thailand are way up there
Singapore hawker centers are next level — rather than being in the street the gvmt moves vendors into markets. quality/value/selection is unparalleled Japan’s markets are always 💯 - Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka Israel falafal game is strong but not same level as above
I wanna say it's more like cities — not whole countries. Tel Aviv is very good indeed. Istanbul's great. In North America, Toronto has a fantastic and very varied street food scene. I hear Taiwan tops all the charts — haven't been tho 🙈
Mexico - esp. Tijuana/Ensenada (Baja Norte MX) - especially if we are talking tacos and seafood. The Tokyo street stalls and fish market area were amazing too.
Would agree that cities are more the focus here than countries as a whole. A few of my faves: - Bangkok - Tokyo - Lima
