I spent years trying to hide that I played baseball in college and coached youth baseball as a side hustle. When our startup was running out of money and we were stalled, we pivoted into VR, baseball and youth games. I wish I’d embraced my identity and history so much sooner.
I use the tools and techniques I learned in coaching every day while creating Derby. Not just in leading our team, but also in communicating with kids in VR every day.
I don't think I've met one founder who hasn't had a similar takeaway in the journey to discover who they really are. For perspective, some people will go their whole lives without this realization, so better late than never.
