So my question is: What do we think are the most compelling stories of web3/crypto, at the application / consumer layer that we can point to **today**? I don't mean ones that will appeal to builders or investors. I mean ones that will appeal to regular people, and most importantly, politicians. /fin

imo you need to play to the left to shift the narrative - crypto enables anon work => much harder to discriminate in the workplace - circumvent "repressive" red states regulations of various forms especially if you use privacy tech+crypto - billions of evil VC dollars going to developing world => good nyt article

Only one I can think of is NBA Top Shot. So far, the only crypto apps that have gained and sustained traction are related to investing.

PoolTogether type apps were the first one to blow my mind For politicians, we should just build another ftx

It's not in its complete form yet - but candi.es chat app was/is part of my effort to accelerate DID adoption (open in two browsers, or send a link to a friend and try it)

My favorite way to pay people, by far. It works, everytime, 24/7. No login to see records. For paying people internationally. And for paying people domestically. Zelle fails or causes hours of phone support. Venmo also blocks transactions 10% of the time. The problem is last mile. People prefer fiat payments.

Whenever talking to "regular people" which is basically my whole family (abt 30 ppl i see often). I get a sense of the web3 things that appeal to them. For my nephew it's being able to use digital assets across multiple gaming titles. For my bond-broker cousin, he's very interested in NFTs and real estate. More ⬇
