1/ Why Passkeys are important - To date, we’ve always had to ask new users to back up their Farcaster recovery phrase during onboarding - It’s a bad first impression for non-cryptonatives; consistent feedback in user interviews - And even cryptonatives revealed preference was a 10% loss rate of the mnemonic

2/ - With Passkeys and the onchain recovery system, there are multiple, user-friendly layers to prevent account loss. This helps compound protocol DAU. - Users can onboard to Farcaster without knowing anything about the underlying crypto — no seed phrase or crypto required - Onboarding UX is now at web2 parity

If you are wandering what happens to your passkeys if you lose access to all your devices: https://support.apple.com/guide/security/escrow-security-for-icloud-keychain-sec3e341e75d/web
