One heuristic: show me the 10 most interesting / engaging *conversations* happening on each network. That’s a leading indicator imo
Recent numbers I was told about suggest mastodon might represent a bit over 1/5th the total “fediverse” size Lemmy, kbin, pixelfed, calkey, misskey, and a few others have communities of various sizes. Lemmy jumped from 10 to around 1,200 servers with all the recent reddit things
