My husband was telling me about the controversy in Call of Duty where since it's cross platform you have both PC and console gamers playing together. Console gamers get aim assist to level the playing field but it's been a huge advantage (top players right now use console) so PC gamers aren't happy. Super interesting!
Aim Assist has be a very contentious topic since crossplay has been a thing And APEX is probably the most toxic community when it comes to this hahaha Controllers do get a buff because it’s far easier to aim with your wrist and adjust your movement with that type of free input Analog sticks are very awkward
Yes, there are also another games that have cross play between mobile and PC emulator of mobile where the aim is better. Or things like adding a gamepad to your mobile (instead of using touchscreen) which causes a stir among players and a backslash when a player is entering the game. Gaming is fascinating to analyze :)
Isn’t there just filters for joining for PC only or Xbox only servers or games so people who care about this can join those? I gamed a bit during COVID and can certainly agree the gameplay experience is very different between the two
All this online games like CoD (first person), In my opinion, not for consoles…
another spin on this is some games (I think Halo Infinite?) can do matchmaking based on what type of input device you use i.e. if you use a controller on PC, you can get pooled with controller players on game consoles; or if you use KB/M on consoles, you get pooled with other KB/M folks on PC
