Okay fuck NFTs and fuck web3 tonight. I want to talk about books. What are you reading? What do you recommend? I'm deep into Cheap Land Colorado right now. Amazing book that truly is reshaping the way I think about the world.
Thank You. I’ve started: Imajica by Clive Barker on the recommendation of @symbiotech
I can read anything Bukowski at any given time. Currently I'm stuck with Never Split the Difference. Not sure why because it's a good & easy read. But Netflix and wine seems the more appealing option to wind down lately. 🤷♂️
Big bad wolf. James Patterson. When you read that you’ll fall in love with the whole book series👉👈
Bookmarked it, look forward to dive in. I’m reading ‘how to change your mind’ by Michael Pollen. Definitely interesting. Highly recommend Three Body Problem, forget if I read 2 or 3 books in that series.
I'm so much enjoying 'The User Illusion: Cutting Consciousness Down to Size.' by Tor Nørretranders, a classic on consciousness. "The brain creates a picture of reality that we mistake for the actual thing."
Just finished “Children of Time” trilogy, doing a total switch of gears and starting “Limitless: The Federal Reserve Takes on a New Stage of Crisis” next.
Started Labatut’s “When We Cease to Understand the World” last night. First chapter was excellent.
I’m reading A THOUSAND SHIPS. Odyssey fanfiction. Will take these classic stories any way I can get them https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53487148 Based on what you’re reading right now, I recommend BILLIONAIRE WILDERNESS https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51801180
Kolyma Tales by Shalamov. Frightening to see what people had to go through and know that some forms of that terror still exist to this day.
The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. It’s insightful, accessible, empowering and full of wisdom. Im doing that thing where I’m highlighting the whole book 😀. The chapter on habits is particularly helpful.
Just finished The Great Believers by Rebecca Makai, terrific novel about the AIDS epidemic in Chicago. Just started Cloud Cuckoo Land, epic novel by Anthony Doerr spanning multiple millennia. Love it so far.
I'm currently reading an autobiography of Snoopy/Peanuts creator, Charles Shultz. I'd recommend "The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are" by Alan Watts. It's a short read and was pretty life-changing for me. Also, great talk the other day re: the promise of "we're early"...someone has to say it! ❤️
Wright Thompson — Pappyland: A Story of Family, Fine Bourbon and the Things That Last
The Outsiders: Eight Unconventional CEOs and Their Radically Rational Blueprint for Success https://a.co/d/2yMwPxm
rereading 1984 but just finished project Hail Mary, that was a great one
Blindsight on @borodutch 's recommendation. Gotta say, it's pretty fkn good so far.
Just finished reading 'Move your DNA by Katy Bowman' She teaches ways to emulate ancestral movements throughout the day. We weren't meant to walk on even surfaces, sit down on chairs, wear shoes etc. I'm waiting for Peter Attia's 'Outlive' this March
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin was my biggest discovery of last year and became one of my favourite books
Don't judge... Spare by Prince Harry. Not the best-written autobiography, but does provide some interesting glimpses into “that” world.
"entangled life" is something that I really enjoyed https://warpcast.com/stc/0xdde5b3
The Order of Time by Carlo Rovelli is one of my all time favorites Reading now: Seeing Like a State by James C Scott
Smil - Invention & Innovation: A Brief History of Hype and Failure. Enjoyed every book by Vaclav Smil
spent the last few months reading biographies and nonfiction about America/Americans between 1880-1950. Oil, industrialization, wartime manufacturing etc. incredible era
When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times, by Pema Chödrön I started it a few years ago but didn't finish, but I need those lessons in my life now more than ever
I'm about to finish Snow Crash, which I picked up because of its influence on Web3. I started The Cold Millions to read along with my local book club, but I'm not feeling it right now, so will likely put that one down. I'm about 20% into Artificial Intelligence by Melanie Mitchell and enjoying it ❤️
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky and it is scratching my Remembrance of Earths Pat itch
The new Rick Rubin book is fantastic. Get the Audio versions, and peace out.
