The fun part about this and the replies is that perception is not reality. (see them here https://x.com/john_c_palmer/status/1697413693611380884) For example, Yahoo! is a resilient business who no one among the tech cool crowd would “perceive” as “doing really well right now”

The older I get the less I value clout. This idea of driving hype and having well perceived outcomes matters very little to me I would always happily be the undervalued Yahoo! than a mirage of success

Some of the most powerful (not necessarily big) businesses are those that no one talks about. It's a good space to be in.

Also Craigslist is a laughingstock among the tech/VC crowd but they’re chugging along with like 30 people making money hand over fist. 😊

Did you know it's like the MSN/hotmail of Japan - so many people use it for news and email still today 🇯🇵

Read recently that Yahoo is in the top 10 of most visits. Amazed me, thought it was just my Dad

Link to the yahoo post - it’s a fascinating read. Need to read up on Jim Lanzone https://x.com/sarafischer/status/1696585826371551669?s=46&t=v_ZlG4Qc5koinibzxLmqsQ

you can't spend clout.
