dipping my toes into solidity development Is truffle/ganache the go to for local development and testing?

not anymore. they are good tools but foundry or hardhat are the go to. big foundry maxi myself but would suggest you to explore both. the biggest difference is, hardhat would need to write tests, scripts in js while foundry allows you to do everything in solidity itself ganache might be good for starting out though

Foundry is the way... learning a completely different API in a completely different language that goes out of its way to be magical and hide important details is a recipe for confusion. Also Hardhat tests are hella slow.

I’ve been happy with hardhat/ganache but if you’re starting from scratch I’ve heard great things of foundry.

Thank you! Was trying to remember foundry the other day. Asked chat GTP the same question, I’m sure it was a metal, didn’t get me very far.
