I really don't like governments getting more and more technological, it means more and more control, they think they are our owners, even when they idea seems pretty good and comfortable, the government is always going to use it to tear us apart. Imagine crypto becoming a government tool after all xD

I get your concern. Just want to nuance as it depends on the direction governments are taking. There is some positive out there. In EU for instance, the new eIDAS 2.0 regulation uses Verifiable Credentials, an open standard from the W3C, and allows external digital wallets to hold them.

Crypto enables the data that governments own to become ours. This was always the vision. Things like QuarkId are already a step in this direction
