Hypothetical -- if you could only visit 1 country (other than the one you live in now) for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? either France or Japan for me; food + natural beauty
japan - the food situation is a bit stressful for me (vegetarian) but keeps getting better.
Italy, gravitate towards the country side. But the food is what would cause me to plant the flag.
Italy 🇮🇹🇮🇹 similar reasons - amazing food, Mediterranean coast, art, architecture, history, and relatively affordable vacation destination
Probably for most people like me who immigrated to the US, we'll have to stick with our country of origin, Argentina in my case. If I could choose a second country just for fun, probably Spain.
probably same (France or Japan) or Egypt since most of my family still lives there
vietnam love the food, friendly people, it's got mountains, cities, beaches, and a pretty great rail system to visit all of it
Israel (specifically Tel Aviv)! huge tech scene, amazing food, nightlife, lots of young people
Allez les bleus🇫🇷 -Geographical diversity (mountains, beaches, hills, farmland, plains) -Urban hubs Paris, Lyon, Marseilles etc. are amazing -can easily switch bw simple and fast life -Native food is 🔥 + access to amazing Italian & Mediterranean cuisine
probably the US, huge diversity in geography within a single country, cultural diversity and it's the most important place for tech if things go to shit i can always go back to the Netherlands
Italy, summer in the north, winter in the south. Get the food and beauty but also year round good weather.
Pre-2012 China: food, family, highly underrated nature, dynamic explosive growth, and optimism!
Polynesia or Monaco for seastanding. https://i.redd.it/apdof1ydhnk41.png
China – and i'd say this even if i wasn't born there. big place with lots of dynamism, you won't ever get bored. Imo Japan is fun for max 10 years cause it's small and stale
Probably Poland. Wife’s country. Stable ish. Can always go to country side if fourth turning hits. Nice people, nice food. Willing to take a 50 year bet on it. Proximity to family is important too. Very practical reasons. I would also like Japan, but that’s 50 years a gringo
Either Spain or Lebanon - for similar reasons of food/natural beauty but also relative cost of living
Spain — familiarity, affordability, diversity, and the overall quality of life described for the rest of Mediterranean spots in this thread
Probably Indonesia because of the (scuba) diving and nature. And food in parts is good
France is a good answer because they still have quite a few overseas territories all over the world that presumably would still count.
Likely France. History and art are such integral parts of what I enjoy. The food of course, as well. I have a feeling when I finally visit Japan this answer might change.
Similar reasons but Japan or Spain. I’ve yet to visit South America yet but imagine some places there could be amazing as well.
i'd agree on france & japan. i studied abroad in france for drawing & painting. as well as studied abroad in japan for traditional print making :)
Italy. I’ve never been to Japan, but I hope to go next year for the first time.
Italy, for sheer variety. But I am Norway-curious... combo of my fascination with Nordic Noir and the ill-advised decision to follow #Lofoten on insta.
Ireland - you get big city vibes in Dublin / and spacious frolicking in the countryside haha
Japan for sure Food, culture, serenity, history, nature (not in that order)
Turkey - span two continents for the price of one! Mix in the Beach, history, hummus…
japan as well, love the food/nature/history/culture and hokkaido has some of the best snowboarding in the world
