186 new Farcaster channels created in less than 24 hours since going permissionless. 162 before. 348 total now. 114% growth. And all of the new ones cost ~$25.
Do you think we will need a new UI to handle 500+ channels? How do people manage channel subscriptions? How does discovery work? Notifications? (I already feel new channel notifications are overwhelming.) I'm starting to feel that "Channels" is a different app built on top of FC.
It would be great to have a pinned cast at the top of the channel. It is not the same as the description. People can comment and trigger a convo. That would be cool.
Idea: Channels to be defined by a subdomains of *.farcaster-channels.eth. A custom domain manager contract allows anyone to mint a domain like this by paying the yearly fee. Subdomain records (address, avatar, URL, description) can be set by the owner and apps can use them to present a channel details.
Did the team have a prediction on how many you expected in the first 24 hours?
Is there plans for more channel controls, channel specific APIs etc? Lots of opportunity here IMHO
Is there any oversight on the channels that are created? I mean, some might be created more for the sake of earning points, rather than for being a meaningful and useful addition to Warpcast.
I just love it. This is *exactly* what I was waiting for! And it's brillantly executed. Love the business model attached to prevent complete chaos and squatting. You guys are killing it!
@slokh can we expect a channel adding function to get integrated in to the Flink UI anytime soon?
Too many channel related notifications though cc @kmacb.eth It’s exhausting
In the spirit of decentralization, are there plans to distribute ownership of channels? At present, the Law & Policy channel depends on whether or not I put 2,500 warps into it next year — but what if the channel could earn its own warps? Then the members can vote on its survival.
