Coffeecasters β sometimes I get the jonesing for a cup instead of my usual bang energy. What do you recommend as the ultimate coffee/espresso maker (that doesnβt also require a PhD in coffeeology)?
Bialetti pot + coffee grinder. Honestly hate the maintenance that goes into coffee machines, like descaling them
I really like this one: https://www.oxo.com/barista-brain-9-cup-coffee-maker.html Simulated pour over. This + conical burr grinder + good beans + steamed milk is a really good 80/20.
I *highly* recommend getting a Chemex. Won't break the bank, is beautiful even when not being used, and makes a really great coffee when you use a quality bean
A Nespresso is absolute the easiest, most convenient way to make espresso / espresso drinks if you donβt want to become a coffee mas scientist and itβs pretty solid.
Breville makes incredible stuff that's easy enough to use for beginners but pro enough to use for connoisseurs. The Touch Pro line in particular is becoming an industry standard for semi-pro coffee drinkers. And has tons of bells & whistles for the price, including single-cup brewing for when you don't need a pot.
For coffee, the Breville precision brewer. For espresso, probably the Breville Barista Pro if you want the best ease+result combo.
De'Longhi Dinamica. Expensive but worth it, I use it everyday. Easy to use, espresso is ready in ~2 minutes
https://www.quickmill.it/en/products/group-quick-mill/mod-0820/ Lasts forever. I bought a 20 year old one second-hand and I've been using it for years. You do have to experiment a little with the right amount of coffee and the grain size but then you're set. I wouldn't call that coffeeology.
Nespresso vertuo. The coffeeology is done for you and barcoded onto the capsules.
Maybe I need to switch back from caffeine pills to coffee again for the experience and a ritual
I went from Bialetti's Brikka mokapot to Cafelat's Robot manual press. Robot elevated my coffee palette, i drink regular milk latte
I have the Bambino Plus from the overview in the next cast, and it has been perfection. It makes an extremely competent cup, is quite simple to use, and has a blessedly compact footprint on the counter. I roast own beans and only do pour overs and espresso, so I'm pretty picky. Bambino gets it done imho
Was taught cowboy coffee by an Aussie in China in the mid 80s and have never really gone back. This writeup close but still too fiddly. Pour some hot water over coffee grounds and wait a bit. They settle, a splash of milk or similar helps. Drink. https://driftaway.coffee/how-do-you-make-cowboy-coffee/
Spinn is a buy it for life coffee maker. Supported the kickstarter, and waited like 4 years to ship; worth the wait.
- Moka Pot + Grinder - South Indian Filter + Grinder + Chicory Both require milk, and make light espresso shots
https://www.breville.com/us/en/products/espresso/bes870.html First piece of equipment in our office, used by 25 people daily for years, never broke down.

Lots of good suggestions here If you want espresso I recommend the Breville Barista. Pourover is very easy - my kit is Fellow Stagg Kettle, Niche Zero grinder and Hario ceramic V60
