Anyone here using Obsidian on everyday basis? Thinking about moving my notes there and looking for pros, cons and alternatives
I am thinking the same. Have had a cold start issue a couple of times overthinking templates, plugins, systems. Watching the cast 👀
Yes I love it. Only con for me is no remote backup without subscription, so I use GitHub instead so Microsoft has access to all my thoughts
Every single day... can be as simple or as complex as you want, lots of plug-ins, all text-based and open source. The only con is that the "complex" stuff has a learning curve.
Used to use it in the early days. Then, I happened to proceed into Roam because of my way of thought-experiments. Now, using HackMD aside. But, Obsidian is a high quality product today and easier to use than many of its peers. I'd even pay for the addons.
Skipped it because no MFA; using Standard Notes https://standardnotes.com/
I do. My fav cross-platform markdown notes editor by far, and I appreciate them mindfully avoiding lock-in by trying to stick with fairly standard markdown/frontmatter/etc. Mobile client has feature parity. Sync product is excellent, too. Only thing that would make it better for me is if it was OSS.
i tried obsidian for a week, stopped once i realized it's not a good tool if you just want to take quick notes, too complex and confusing, feels like this photo
I tried every note-taking app, but the thing is: what do you need to do with that? Do you need to save quotes from books, articles, etc.? And/or do you need to save your thoughts or random notes taken during meetings/etc? for me, I found that there's no single note-taking app that fits all use cases..
i use obsidian everyday, it kinda fills a gap between apple notes and notion for me simple enough ui where its not overloaded like notion but enough features where its not literally just barebones notes app
Too cumbersome to use. I used it along with Roam; don’t want them to be controlling my data, so moved to Logseq
I use Obsidian every day (obviously), previously used TiddlyWiki Don't overthink this decision too much. Building a journaling habit is more important than the app you use. https://warpcast.com/kepano/0x4535f343
What are you currently using to capture daily notes? Started using Obsidian seriously in September. Kept things as simple as possible and started using it for basic note taking to get a feel. Then slowly added more to it once I felt more comfortable. Can be frustrating at times, but I get more accustom to it every day
