Unpopular opinion: Conferences are a great use of time. The amount of connections I have built from 7 days at ETHDenver are invaluable, I couldn‘t have built @kiwi without them. The benefits have far outstripped the costs
Agreed. I love conferences. In my line of work, they vastly accelerate business development and create opportunities I could not get otherwise. I can engage with CxOs I’ve never met before as if we were buddies. If I tried to do that outside of a conference by requesting a formal meeting, I’d get far less traction.
Same here, haven't regretted any of my conferences, but I got to 1-2/year. Probably there's some point of diminishing returns
The usefulness of conferences is largely dependent on how willing to be socially uncomfortable you are. Glad you made it worth the time.
I do my best to avoid conferences but the reality is I’ve also had invaluable returns from the ones I’ve gone to. Even still, I find it hard to justify time away from building. Which one are you going to next?
crypto has too many conferences. You choose the conferences well, and it's very useful. Else, you end up just doing a world tour😂.
Totally agree! Haven’t regretted one crypto/NFT con. Others types (edu related) I definitely see less value from.
can you give an example of a connection, how it was valuable, and how the conference was a more effective path than alternatives
Great scope for serendipity. And that is simply beautiful. Identifying the right conferences is tricky though. A random approach to conferences can end up feeling like a huge waste of time.
