If your iCloud backup and password are comprised, you can return to an Orb to regenerate a new credential. Because your IrisCode will be unchanged, we can look up your old ID, invalidate it, and issue a new one.
We offer encrypted iCloud backup now, and will have Orb-based recovery soon.
The credentials are stored securely on-device, and can’t be exported by the user, preventing direct sale. Device theft is still an issue, but World ID will be revocable in the future, which would invalidate the stolen identity.
Employment, healthcare, schooling, etc. typically require ID to enroll. So I’d say so, what’s the alternative?
