quick poll: would you rather look at plants / windows as you work or have them in your zoom background?
hey @borodutch you're overcomplicating again not a personal attack, everybody does this that's why you want to have a meeting to schedule another meeting to come up with time to think of ideas to propose just do, don't overthink more people breeds complexity that can't be organized, it's chaos
@dwr would be cool if someone mentioned mattkoch.eth, i get a notif still because i’ve verified ownership thru wallet esp once ens names are 1st class citizens in the UI
what about it doesn’t work? there a lot of organizations much larger than purple that have figured out how to do it
i think retroactive is probably the way to go, but at the same time we’ve made proposals for FC meetups before, and i know it would be very hard to do that retro-actively
can you say more about what you learned? assuming some people won’t / can’t / will be afraid to speak up on a call and would rather put into writing? if so i agree, but i just think we should talk and try to collectively write at least one of those proposals
I don't see why not, but this isn't about purpler. I actually agree with a lot of the points Borodutch made, and that's why I think we should talk about it and figure out as a community how to improve things going forward.
yeah I hear you—events are just hard to do this with I think. But at the same time some kind of organically spreading IRL movement that involves NFTs would be super cool. What's off-putting about Ticketmaster for you? The fees?
First of all, not sure what you mean by "again" but this is my first cast about this. Second, I disagree. Getting on a call, talking things through, and then making a decision together is a far better idea than endlessly arguing over social media posts, or worse, rage quitting and starting your own "alternative".
I know I know I don't want to sideswipe, I think this is a good idea but I just think it's worth talking it thru before putting up proposals
also sorry @cameron I know you just posted something but the thought popped into my head reading
AFAIK we have no regular synchronous communication... isn't that somewhat rare for a community? If there were any moment to do it even one time, this feels like it.
RE all the @purple drama, I do think there could be more clear guidelines on mission, criteria for funding, how to propose, etc... What if we all got on a call and talked through it together? and maybe have a doc open to collab on. Once we have something we like, we make a proposal to the DAO to codify it on-chain.
one thing i will say is we want to move in the direction of letting communities fund meetups—and in that case, they will want some proof that attendees were actually there so the situation i’d be worried about selfishly is less about non-attendees, but rather the organizer colluding *with* attendees
re stuff like this i just still go back to the question of when there would not be a top-down organizer—how common is that really? also, maybe i’m just biased with @event, given that we never really deal with this
as the owner tho wouldn’t you want some top-down control? in the case of a protest or strike i get it, but how common is the need for a POAP there relative to a branded event? i like the point of dynamic qr codes tho… also wonder if mentaport.com could help here cc @cynthai
