So I’d be ending this version of my consciousness. It’s akin to death really. But sure, why not, $1B for my kids and partner and some younger dumber version of me sounds like a win overall.

Quite a few of those X things turned out to not work so well after a time anyway! Let’s make new things that don’t work instead of the same old things that don’t work.

💯 LARPing. I think about this often. Sounds like a great talk. The qualities I value most in people are things like authenticity, honesty, kindness, humor, curiosity, generosity. But I’ve found those qualities tend to limit leader advancement in large orgs.

Hey all, PayPal / Braintree held layoffs yesterday. Even years after its acquisition, Braintree kept a unique positive and collaborative culture, including a strong remote-inclusive TDD+pairing dev team. If you're hiring, esp for payments/fintech background, lmk and I'll share in alum channels.

Maybe apply your productivity anxiety to understanding the origin and meaning of your productivity anxiety. Therapy, drugs, writing, long walks, self-help books, etc. I find intentional introspection helps me form a narrative foundation necessary for embracing or changing parts of myself.

So large now too. I’d love to see a little electric truck with the form factor of an 80s Toyota or Datsun.

Currently reading. It leads through liminal locations in Mexico and the (antebellum) Southwestern U.S, a harsh, stark, beautiful landscape with complicated history and shocking violence. The characters and their experiences take time to unfold. Looking at actual geography has helped me frame/track the story.

Sure, but don’t let go of the analytical part. That’s needed to be a self-aware, complex person. It’ll influence direction by laying out the criteria for your gut.

It’s hard to move forward from a full analysis paralysis. It is easier to keep moving once you’ve committed to a direction.

Everything is arbitrary and under-constrained if you take too long with it. It’s like saying the same word over and over until it sounds weird. You’ll need to be split-brained, with a nerdy confused mode as existential conscience, but also a jocky action mode pushing forward based on “gut” assessment.
