Friday AMA -- Farcaster, crypto, thoughts on
What is the coolest tech product that we will see by 2030? Hardware/software.
thoughts on whether web3 social will eventually normalize to one dominant player or multiple smaller ones?
What does farcaster success look like 1 year from now? What metrics define it? DAUs? Daily posts? App ecosystem building on top? Multi-client? Total user wallet net worths? 😜
@dwr FC question… I’m clearly a dumbass but still unclear on what the Discover tab is supposed to be doing? I thought it would be a way to discover projects/companies but seems to be nfts.
thoughts on user retention and engagement when the platform has 10x,100x users.
What things (essays, books, insights, etc...) that impacted the way you think the most? in another way, how do you come up with the contrarian/unconventional insights (that keep showing up) in the way you're building farcaster? 😅
Just checking in to see how you're doing mate. How's life? When's the next time you'll be back on the East Coast?
What would you do if you were a freshmen in college right now interested in crypto/startups?
On your question to us: I’m still frustrated by lost casts - when I type in some content, swipe to another app for a url or something, come back and Farcaster has reloaded, the unsaved cast is gone. I know I could save to drafts before swapping apps but users be lazy.
I thought this was for Farcaster only, will slip in another if I may What is the future of user interfaces for web3 and why? any level of abstraction
do you think self-sovereignty as a value proposition be enough for normies to switch from existing social networks? If "no", what will be enough?
How do you see Farcaster differentiating itself from other efforts like DeSo which have gone the way of creating their own Layer-1?
Story behind the name farcaster? I admit I found the name a bit “non-mainstream-consumer-friendly” when I first heard.
if you could have a sit down dinner with 3 living people, who would they be & why? 3 people from history?
why use NFTs for discover? for a text-heavy social media, it’s interesting that you focus fixing the discovery issue for NFTs and not profiles/people to follow and why no character/word limit?
Any other recommendations for utility style apps/NFTs that might bring about second/third/fourth order benefits? E.g., @farcaster, @floor, @linksdao, @proof_xyz.
What’s the most contrarian view you have, even relative to Crypto community?
Who is building (knowingly or unknowingly) a CMS for NFTs? Especially as we start seeing more Dynamic NFTs take shape.
What are the top 3 learnings you took from coinbase that you're applying to FC?
Have you considered the ability for a user to attach more than one wallet address?
Random q, is everyone building on farcaster running their own private indexer? Was curious to see thats what searchcaster is doing
Do you imagine FC to serve only for crypto natives going forward? If not, how do plan to onboard regular/non-natives (people who don’t have a wallet or find the process of creating a wallet hard)
really love rss and the rss ethos, any plans on adding things like subscribing to feeds, filtering, etc?
What’s the plan for non-dwr-gated registration? 10 invites per week forever? 😛
How would you explain the difference in simple terms to folks trying to understand the present and future differences between Farcaster and Twitter?
What can be done with Farcaster that can't be done with twitter today? I just wanna hear some usecases rather than features.
