Dumb take that I think is directionally accurate Being against (true level 5) self driving cars is toxic masculinity Me big strong man want to turn corners and put everyone around me at the mercy of my ever worsening reaction time 😂
ya but look who actually opposes self driving & private spaceflight & nuclear etc technopessimism isn't a predominantly male trait
I love driving on open, scenic empty roads. What I do not like is getting stuck in traffic. I’d rather drive for pleasure. What I like about Teslas are that they’re awesome for both these use cases.
hmm my thinking is more like I write code for a living and I know even the smartest + well intentioned engineers can introduce bugs therefore there is always going to be some doubt in my mind with trusting software with my life I also like to drive on open + scenic roads :)
My prediction around this particular trend (the positive version is "man, I love driving, i'm going to miss it"), is that I think we'll see "driving as entertainment" go way up in a self-driving first world. A lot more people will have track day weekends, and tracks will be made fun for normies.
eventually a push to make driving illegal and force those who want control to take it out on the track is an opinion worth considering imo masculinity isn't driving to the grocery store
being against tesla ≠ being against self driving cars just to be specific
My two main issues with Tesla's FSD so far are: It gets confused on many turns. It's too cautious and slow for my taste. I wouldn't mind that if I were able to do something else while it drives but since I have to pay attention, it's annoying.
