If there were a proper way to see how many people the money of a16z decided that fate, we could more easily debate decentralization. I believe we are headed into a future where that is possible and not much different than this current situation is.

Both firms are doing what they should be doing, participating in governance. “Pumping their own bags” in this case is not a bad thing.

The purpose of decentralisation for most is to align incentives between users and product to keep the product doing what existing users want. This fails when some voters have bigger fish to fry and enough influence to sacrifice the product in aid of the other fish

Met the Layer Zero team months ago and they were amazing. And it’s true that Wormhole has a lot of flaws and a bad track record.
