People with a personal blog: what’s the link, what tech/product stack did you use, and why?
philmohun.com Hosted ghost instance Ability to exit + good editor with a decent built in mail delivery tool
Substack. Lowest frictional admin startup cost for you as a new writer Least cognitive load to write + publish. Best blog discovery mechanism for new readers (it’s still not great tho) If you want to write, anything that gets in the way of you writing + posting is death. Wysr.xyz if you want to see how it look
https://davidfurlong.me/ Using Gatsby with Lumen starter, hosted on Github and deployed/built/edited through Netlify. I'm not sure I'd recommend this stack though it's ok but the editing experience isn't great
I'm betting on paragraph.xyz/@mc10 and the Paragraph platform's features.
Fleek on IPFS. Simple and permisionless. Still need to migrate posts over: freeparticle.io
https://murdo.xyz/ Jekyll and GitHub Pages with Hover domain. Super simple to manage so I can write and post from my iPhone / iPad.
gillesdc.com webflow I wanted full control over the reader experience.
iammatthias.com Just launched this a few days ago. Next13 Beta (using the app directory). Content is primarily sourced from a private git repo (markdown managed with Obsidian): https://iammatthias.com/md/1670714294926
I use medium then cross post to mirror. Feeling fomo for paragraph tho so gonna check that out
I casted almost the same thing a day ago, got no engagement. Thanks for casting this, can follow some blogs now :)
Empoweredbelonging.substack.com Also considered Ghost but Substack is easier. Now considering hosting my writing on my site, since I recently learnt how to deploy my own code online, but not sure how I should best do the distribution
maxpetretta.com Next.js / Tailwind / MDX, mostly to practice the craft 👨💻 More details here: https://maxpetretta.com/blog/tech-stack
stephenmalina.com Hugo because it's easy to maintain and I can understand the code if I need to.
I use Figma, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Radix Colors, MDX, Plausible, and Vercel https://natt.xyz
mko4.me needs to be updated but nextjs static site hosted on vercel
I just updated mine with Farcaster comments with inspiration from @iammatthias! Gatsby Lumen Starter with some tweaks. IDE for CMS is in process, but not ideal. Minimal maintenance is high req so can focus on content here. https://me.scottrepreneur.eth.limo/posts/2022-12-29---Adding-Farcaster-Comments-To-Gatsby/
Self-made scripts + CSS from hackmd. https://github.com/vbuterin/blogmaker As for why, it was just easier to make my own thing than to figure out how to customize+fix Jekyll.
charlieharrington.com Syte (has a Farcaster integration for casting new posts) + Cloudflare Pages (free bandwidth!)
