5 but my stepson's dexterity isn't great so he didn't really get into it until he was 8.
Daughter wanted to play Mario at 2 yr old. She loves PBS kids games now at 3, almost 4.
We opened up video games a little early for our youngest, a Covid indulgence, he was 5 1/2. Figured why not check out a switch in Fall 2020. In hindsight we would have been better to wait a couple more years. Later, we played through Zelda Link’s Awakening as a family.
around 7 - competitive NitroType, collaborative Oregon Trail (somehow my character always gets dysentery + dies before his)
gave him the controller to "play" Mario kart with me at 3yo he'll play Zelda with me now too at 4yo, but not on his own yet it's a special treat for us to do together maybe once or twice a week, don't want to overdo it
5ish, Mario Kart. Though now that they’re older (8 and 11) they play games like Mario and Zelda solo.
i have spawned gamers. 4, 5, and 9 year old all play smash bros and mario kart. i think 4 is a good age. though i am super strict on age appropriate games. when it comes to ipad, also super strict on random games that spew ads and buy to play. i try to stick to apple arcade which has a decent collection now.
4/5 or so. We started by building the Nintendo Labo kits together out of cardboard and then used them for the Labo game and Mario Kart (which has a friendly steering assist function for kids). Now oldest is almost 7 and we’re still playing Mario Kart, Rocket League, Minecraft together.
